Brownsville's career landscape is active with targeted job fairs and workforce initiatives responding to demands in key industries. Local organizations have scheduled events to connect job seekers with employers amid expansions in manufacturing and aerospace.

Spring Job Fair Highlights Hiring Needs

Workforce Solutions Cameron will host the Spring Job Fair on March 31 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Brownsville Events Center.[1][2] Local employers seek candidates across various roles, with on-site interviews possible. Attendees should prepare by dressing in business casual attire, bringing printed or digital résumés, and accessing workforce resources beforehand. These events equip participants with skills for regional opportunities in high-demand sectors.

Virtual Fair Targets Entry-Level Roles

The Entry-Level Brownsville Virtual Job Fair on March 23 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. CDT matches candidates via AI to employers in tech, healthcare, marketing, and operations.[3] Suitable for students, recent graduates, hobbyists transitioning careers, and professionals, it features video interviews. Preparation includes testing technology, researching companies, practicing responses, and sending follow-up notes, helping attendees secure positions like marketing coordinators or data analysts.

Training Expansion for Manufacturing

South Texas College announced programs in manufacturing, AI, and automation to prepare workers for 500 permanent and 1,500 temporary jobs at a new Brownsville oil refinery.[4]

"These skills and competencies are going to be very much applicable to the forthcoming refinery," said STC Dean Carlos Margo.

The training targets Rio Grande Valley residents, including students seeking higher-paying roles.

Aerospace Hiring Boom

SpaceX plans to hire 4,000 additional workers in 2026 at its Boca Chica Starbase facility.[5]

"SpaceX has confirmed that they're going to hire 4,000 more people in 2026 for Starbase," stated Mike Willis, executive director of the South Texas Manufacturers Association.

Cameron County Judge Eddie Treviño, Jr., noted ongoing expansions. Job fairs provide platforms to prepare for these manufacturing and engineering roles.

These developments position students, hobbyists, and professionals to engage with emerging opportunities. The March 31 Spring Job Fair offers a key next step for direct employer connections.
